The La Caja China Model No. 1 pig roaster isn't just for roasting a pig, though it was designed principally for that. The Model No. 1 can comfortably handle a whole animal up to 80 pounds, whether that's a pig, a lamb or a goat. Of course, there's more to good barbecue than just pork. More than a dozen whole chickens (not merely parts), a half-dozen whole turkeys, slabs of ribs, pork shoulders – all of these potential meats can be made with the Model No. 1.

You might not be able to feed an army, but a platoon should be comfortably stuffed no matter what you throw on. The ability to cook multiple meats at once or one good-sized animal gives the Model No. 1 a degree of flexibility for any occasion, whether it's a family reunion or catering a wedding, cooking Carolina-style barbecue or Mediterranean gyro meats.

With a body made of marine-grade aluminum and all of the basic equipment you need for almost every conceivable barbecue scenario formed from stainless steel, the Model No. 1 makes Cuban pig roasting a snap. Once the cooking's over and the leftovers are bagged, cleaning up is fast and easy. Poor Quality for "Made in the USA" April 6, 2015

I purchased the 70 lbs cooker and was very excited once it arrived. While unpacking the parts, I realized that the charcoal galvanized/steel grade frame was in multiple pieces due to faulty spot welds from the manufacturer. Needless to say I was very disappointed in the quality of the product. Fortunately, I have a welding machine at home and I was able to weld the galvanized frame back together.

Okay, so we decided that for my daughters first birthday we would have a luau

My brand-new La Caja China was just sitting here begging to be fired up

So I picked up four pork shoulders dug out my Sam Choy Sampler Cookbook which I picked up in Maui to put together the ultimate luau and away we went

Turned out amazing

I've done numerous pork shoulders in both the oven and in my pit smoker but the Caja produced the most tender moist pulled pork I've ever had

It was even better than what we had in Hawaii

The Caja China is THE best way to cook pork

I cook in the box model #1 last sunday, a pig of 45 pounds, in only 3 hours, I used the thermometer, and I"m very happy with the results. The skin came out really crispy.
